Marmore Falls: European highest falls
The Hotel Corso in Orvieto recommends a visit to Marmore Falls, a must-see for anyone who has the opportunity to spend vacations in Umbria, representing the highest jump in Europe, with an overall jump of 165 meters. Built by the Romans in 290 BC, the spectacular waterfall has inspired artists and poets over the centuries: Virgil (citing the waterfall in his "Aeneid"), Lord Byron and Cicero are only three examples.
The beautiful waterfall is located near the city of Terni, a provincial capital which Orvieto is part of, rising a few tens of kilometers from the Hotel. The waterfall is easily accessible and is a destination not to be missed.
