Info about Civita di Bagnoregio
The beautiful town is located a few kilometers away from Orvieto (and therefore from the Hotel Corso), in a secluded location perched atop a cliff in slow disintegration. Precisely for this reason is called "the dying city": it means that the rocky island on which it stands is constantly eroded by the action of weathering.
The town, with its absolutely timeless charm and extremely curated, is accessible only on foot via a long bridge, and is of great interest both historical and scenic. Hotel Corso strongly recommend a trip to this town founded 2500 years ago by the Etruscans. What to see: several medieval houses, the church of San Donato, the Bishop's Palace, a mill of the XVI century, the birthplace of St. Bonaventura, the Door of Santa Maria, the small necropolis under the church of San Francesco and the old cave St. Bonaventura. Etruscan is also the channel Bucaioni, which links the valley below to Civita di Bagnoregio.
